For researchers
The task is easy to state and hard to do well: from an image of a substation single-line diagram, produce an IEC 61850 SCL file that an engineer can trust. The output format is a public standard, so results can be checked and compared without anything proprietary.
Open questions
- Synthetic to real: how well do scores on synthetic drawings predict scores on real, scanned or hand-annotated drawings?
- Wide drawings: engineering drawings are large and full of small text. What resolution, tiling or zoom strategy reads them best, and how does it differ between models?
- Connectivity: published benchmarks find wiring diagrams the hardest kind of engineering diagram. What methods recover which equipment connects to which, reliably?

Status
This is a prototype. The figures on this site are early and still work in progress: one synthetic drawing, a few runs per model, one answer key.
